Do you do conversions of big box stores or do you also do ground up development?

Both, our preference is a big box retail store that went dark. It’s a great way to readapt the building and bring it back to life for the community. It also allows us to bring the self-storage need to the community quicker. A ground up project takes longer to bring our product to the market. It does have its advantages as it allows a specific design to fit our customers’ needs such as a drive-up climate control facility.

Do you operate all of your facilities?

No, Self-Storage Developers develops and owns the property and the business. The management of the facility and operations of the business is handled by one of our operating partners. Depending on the area that we serve, we will partner with operators such as Public Storage, Extra Space Storage, Life Storage and Store Space.
